If you select the Artboard tool to accomplish these tasks, use the Esc key to return to the tool you were using. This option is only used when Illustrator is faking small caps, so when your small caps are the size of capital letters, you’ll instantly recognize it (bottom). To prevent Illustrator from creating fake small caps, go to File> Document Setup> Type> Options, and change the Small Caps percentage from 70% to 100%. However, if true-drawn small caps aren’t available in a font, Illustrator creates the fake, scaled-down version (middle), which is a typographic taboo. Illustrator’s Small Caps option (in the Character panel menu) converts all selected characters to small caps (top). To copy objects to all other artboards in the same relative location, use Paste on All Artboards. To copy “instances” of artwork to another artboard, use the Transform effect. Then use Transform> Move and enter the measurement in the Distance input. Here’s a simple example of using a model: var UserModel = Backbone.Model. Models are where you structure your data. Step 1: Models and Views in BackBoneīackbone can be broken down to two essential concepts: models and views. If you read on, you’ll get a better understanding of how Backbone and the ZingChart extension work together. If are already familiar with these concepts, feel free to skip down to Step 3. These libraries are loaded by the HTML file. Setting Up Working Environment In this tutorial we will add 3 JavaScript library files to set up our working environment, namely Underscore.js, jQuery and Backbone.js files. Backbone and ZingChartīelow is a quick demo and brief explanation of how Backbone works with models, views, and templates. Introduction to Backbone.JS In this session, I will only concentrate on Backbone. It is a simple, clean solution for integrating ZingChart’s interactive charts within a Backbone project. We used that minimalist style with our Backbone extension. The age of the framework and minimal dependencies piqued the interest of the ZingChart team and the possibilities for including an interactive dataviz component within Backbone apps.īackbone also provides a simple, minimalist structure to your app. It’s sole dependency, Underscore, is 5.7kb, minified and gzipped. It can be as simple as a string error message to be displayed, or a complete error object that describes the error. If the attributes are valid, don’t return anything from validate, If they are invalid return an error message. It is also tiny in comparison to Angular, Ember, and React: only 7.3kb, minified and gzipped. The Backbone.js validate Model is validation logic that we want to apply for all the attributes of model. Released in 2010, Backbone is one of the oldest modern (relatively speaking) front-end frameworks. remains a solid option for web applications. The following code shows how to subscribe to an event and then trigger the event: events.on('myEvent', (e: MyEventArg) =>, // lets do something good Instead of creating inter-dependencies among these components, the template uses a "pub/sub" model: The events object, defined in events.ts, acts as an event hub for publishing and subscribing to application events. Backbone provides built-in events with components such as Model, Collection, and View. Syntax: t (attribute) Parameter explanation: attributes: It defines property of a created model. Philosophically, Backbone is an attempt to discover the minimal set of data-structuring (models and collections) and user interface (views and URLs) primitives. Applications often perform multiple operations in response to a user action. The Backbone.js Set model is used to set the value of an attribute in the model. If not, it redirects to the default url (#!/).Įvents are always important when developing loosely coupled components. Next, it creates the default router and checks whether any client-side URL is specified. The application.start method creates the modal views and attaches event handlers for application-level events, such as user sign-in. It maintains configuration and state information that is shared across the application, such as whether the user is signed in. This object initializes the application and acts as the root namespace. The application is written in TypeScript (.ts files) which are compiled into JavaScript (.js files).Īpplication is defined in application.ts. The client application scripts are located in the ~/Scripts/application folder. A user can extend Backbone. They contain the interactive data as well as a large part of the logic surrounding it: conversions, validations, computed properties, and access control. The template provides an initial skeleton for developing a Backbone.js application in ASP.NET MVC. Models are the heart of any JavaScript application. The Backbone.js SPA template is designed to get you started quickly building interactive client-side web apps using Backbone.js. The Backbone SPA Template was written by Kazi Manzur Rashid Boba shops opened in response to the drink’s growing popularity, becoming the Asian American equivalent of American coffee shops as community gathering places. But Asian American youth in those areas quickly identified with “boba” as they preferred to call it, and it became an iconic meme for Asian students seeking cultural familiarity away from home. This small and cozy spot specializes in serving herbal teas made with natural. The drink was first only available as a menu item in local Asian restaurants. ViVi Bubble Tea, located in Amherst, MA, is a hidden gem that is not to be missed. Find a VIVI BUBBLE TEA location near you. All our stores have different looks, and they all aim to make your experiences wonderful. Bubble tea eventually appeared in west coast American university and college campus cafes in the 1990s, arriving with Taiwanese students. USA VIVI BUBBLE TEA has over 100+ store locations across 4 continents and 13 countries sharing happiness around the world. Regardless of who created that first delicious sweet milk tea drink with tapioca “pearls” floating playfully atop the foam, some say bubble tea has become Taiwan’s most iconic export of the 21st century. He began serving his pearl tea with both black and white pearls, which delighted his customers. Details: Jasmine Fresh Milk with tapioca 50 sugar less ice from Vivi Bubble Tea (San Diego) Like 2 bloggers like this. He added some of the “pearls” to cold tea, resulting in the first “pearl tea.” When he mixed brown sugar into his tapioca ball recipe the pearl color darkened to black. With 27 cafes in the city, most New Yorkers who love their boba have probably stabbed an oversized straw through the heart-shaped eye of Vivi’s adorable skeleton logo at least once. His inspiration came from white tapioca balls that looked like pearls in the Ya Mu Liao day market. In the same way that you sometimes just want a Starbucks Iced Caramel Macchiato, sometimes you just want boba tea from Vivi. The other claim-to-bubble-tea-fame is made by Tu Tsong, owner of the Hanlin Tea Room in Tainan, Taiwan who says he invented “pearl tea” in 1986. The resulting drink was such a hit with other attendees that the drink recipe was added to the tearoom’s menu, much to the delight of customers. While playing with her glass of iced tea during a meeting in 1988, on a whim she dropped some pudding with tapioca balls into her glass of cold tea. Owner Liu Han-Chieh gives credit to his teahouse product development manager, Lin Hsiu Hui, for inventing bubble tea. The founder of the Chun Shui Tang tea room in Taichung, Taiwan first began serving cold Chinese tea after seeing the popularity of coffee served cold while traveling Japan in the 1980s. Which tea room was first to add tapioca balls, called “pearls” to the foamy tea and milk drinks popular with night market crowds is up for debate, although two tearooms in Taiwan stake claim to bubble tea. “Bubble tea,” also known as “boba” or “pearl tea” attracted a cult-like fascination that quickly became part of the Taiwanese youth pop culture and spread rapidly from Taiwan throughout Asia. Shaken tea and milk drinks were already popular fare in Taiwan’s night markets in the 1980s when teahouses began selling the beverages topped with doughy black and white tapioca ball garnishments resembling bubbles. In addition, upgrading buys you unlimited likes and an ad-free experience.īumble puts women in charge of making the first contact after matching with men.īumble is distinctive among dating apps. Once your profile is set up, the app tracks users who like your profile as well as potential matches who have a high percentage of interests and answers in common with you.īut while the app can be used for free, with an upgrade to OKCupid Premium - which starts at $39.99 per month (it's cheaper if you subscribe for more than a month at a time) - you can see people who have liked you so you can like them back. The site also gives you a wealth of ways to self-identify your gender and sexuality, more so than most others. Even so, OKCupid tries to differentiate itself by collecting a lot of information about you when you create a profile and giving you the opportunity to answer a lot of optional questions to create a more nuanced profile. OKCupid is part of the same dating app family as Match, Tinder, and Hinge - they are all owned by the same parent company. OKCupid gives you a lot of ways to stand out aside from just profile photos. And for a better chance of matching with someone, you'll want to upgrade to Tinder Gold (which starts around $30 per month) so you can see users who have already liked you, as well as get other advanced features like the ability to message users before liking them and "rewinds," which are essentially swiping undos. You can only swipe right up to 100 times per day, for example, without upgrading to unlimited likes with Tinder Plus ($10 per month if you're under 30, otherwise $20 per month). You can use these basic features for free, but it comes with significant limitations. In addition, it has a slew of "Discover" modes designed to connect you with potential matches. If both of you like each other's profiles, you've matched and can then start a text conversation or have a video chat within the app. Tinder is the dating app that essentially invented the idea of swiping right and left to match or reject potential partners - a dating app mechanic that is now commonly used in most other apps. Tinder has a wealth of features to help you discover potential matches. And while that might be something of a disadvantage, Facebook Dating has a lot of other upsides, including the ability to take a second look at profiles you initially passed on and the chance to match up with your "secret crush" – a person that's listed among your friends on Facebook or a follower on Instagram. It's only available in the mobile app ( iOS, Android), so you can't access it in the Facebook website on your computer. Facebook Dating avoids matching you with your existing Facebook friends, but you can use common interests and Facebook groups to find potential matches. In addition, it's somewhat less common to encounter fake profiles because the entire service is built on Facebook, and users can optionally share their Facebook profiles with one another. Unlike the alternatives, it is completely free with no in-app subscriptions or purchases, and it's easy to build a profile because it lets you draw on your existing Facebook profile. Importantly, this has the effect of reducing plaque formation and inhibiting enamel demineralisation. This corn-derived sweetener has anti-bacterial properties, is non-cariogenic and doesn’t ferment in your mouth to feed tooth decaying bacteria. We use pure water to blend ingredients and give our products the right consistency. It also helps to remove the bitter notes. As stevia is sugar-free, it does not fuel the plaque bacteria that causes tooth decay. We use this sugar substitute extracted from the leaves of the Stevia Rebaudiana plant, and native to Brazil and Paraguay. As a humectant, it also helps to moisten the mouth. Not only does it not cause cavities, it can help reduce dental plaque and acids, while also fighting harmful pathogens found in saliva. The sweetener Sorbitol is naturally derived from corn. SM also remineralises any weak spots, strengthening precious enamel for better pearly whites. This means your teeth stay stronger and for longer. Fluoride found in Sodium Monofluorophosphate (SM) helps reduce demineralisation of tooth enamel. Sodium MonofluorophosphateĪ powerhouse at preventing tooth decay. Derived from coconut, this mild surfactant has very low irritation potential (unlike SLS) and has strong cleansing properties. This is a sulphate-free, naturally derived alternative to Sodium Lauryl Sulphate (SLS). The paste comes out of your mint-green tube with ease, making teeth-brushing effortless, mess-free, and all the more indulgent. This stuff gives Gem’s toothpaste its luxuriously thick consistency. The inclusion of Lactobacillus Salivarius prevents the build-up of bad bacteria, encourages the good bacteria and helps to establish a healthy oral microbiome. And bad bacteria is a problem it can destroy the tooth’s enamel, as well as the dentin layer underneath. When we nuke our mouths with chemicals, the balance of good and bad bacteria is thrown off. This probiotic is an anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory agent. Oral Probiotic (Lactobacillus Salivarius) Combined, these ingredients provide a clean aftertaste and long-lasting fresh breath. Our powerful peppermint flavour comes from pure peppermint (mentha piperta oil) and mint (mentha arvensis leaf oil) essential oils (both derived from natural mint leaves) and a naturally sourced menthol. It can be used to improve the mouth feel of a product, but in our case, it’s simply a minor by-product of the probiotic and only occurs in trace amounts. Naturally derived and made from corn, rice, potato starch or wheat, Maltodextrin is a commonly used, easily-digestible food additive. It works by repairing and re-mineralising tooth enamel with calcium and phosphorus, which helps teeth to become harder and stronger, while also whitening and smoothening the tooth’s surface. Hydroxyapatite is the main mineral our teeth and bones are made of and is a proven, safe alternative to fluoride. Gem uses only the highest quality silica with ultra-fine microscopic particles, designed to safely clean and polish the enamel on your teeth (some imported silica has large abrasive particles that can scratch or damage the enamel). This natural material is used to remove surface stains and whiten and polish teeth. It works as a natural preservative to prevent the ingredients from separating, while also enhancing the natural mint oil flavour. Our food-grade Glycerin is derived from vegetable oils and is non-GMO. This ingredient is regularly used as a food additive and is considered safe for consumption. Cellulose Gumĭerived from the cell walls of plants, we use Cellulose Gum as a thickening agent to keep the paste creamy and stop ingredients from separating. Unlike abrasives of the past, it offers a gentle clean, without scratching or damaging the tooth’s enamel. Mined from the earth, we use this natural mineral as a mild abrasive to help prevent plaque build-up, remove surface stains and whiten and polish teeth. We also use a combination of the naturally powerful Sodium Bicarbonate and Silica to help clean and whiten tooth enamel. A loose social structure determines which bears get the best fishing spots. Bears in Alaska and Russia flock to the rivers used by salmon swimming upstream to spawn every summer to catch tasty meals.īrown bears live solitary lives once they leave their mother, but the yearly salmon run brings many coastal-dwelling bears together. However, the food that first comes to mind when one thinks of bears is salmon. Bears dig for roots, tubers, and insects, scavenge for carrion, and even occasionally hunt prey such as rodents, young deer, and elk. Most of their diet consists of plant matter, but they certainly eat meat if they can find it. Currently, the largest brown bear populations are in Russia, Alaska, and Canada.īrown bears are true omnivores and eat anything nutritious that they find. This is the largest range of any bear, yet brown bears once roamed a much larger portion of the US, as well as northern Mexico and northern Africa. Their current range includes Europe, parts of Asia, Japan, and western Canada as well as the states of Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Washington, and Wyoming, from sea level to 18,000 feet (5,500 meters). They may be found in forests, mountain areas, tundra, and even semi-desert areas. In fact, the brown bears at the San Diego Zoo stay active year round!īears are the only mammals that do not pee or poop for the entire time they are in their winter sleep! In fact, by studying the way bears recycle urine, doctors have been able to help human patients with kidney failure.īrown bears are more versatile in their choice of habitats than any other bear. Bears in warmer climates spend less of their time curled up in their dens than those in areas with a longer winter. This "winter sleep" allows the bears to stay alive for a long period of time when there is little or no food available to them. However, the bears' heart rate slows from 70 beats per minute to only 10 beats per minute, their metabolism slows, and they do not urinate or defecate all winter! That's one-third to one-half of their lifetime! This sleep is commonly called hibernation, but unlike true hibernation, the bears' body temperature does not drop drastically. Brown bears can spend four to six months a year curled up deep in sleep, in a den. A den can be a rock cave, a tree hollow, a pile of brush, or a den made by digging into a hillside or under tree roots. When the weather cools, they seek out large, cozy dens for their winter home. They may build a shallow bed on the ground made of leaf litter. Their great front claws make all brown bears powerful diggers. Adult brown bears are not quite as comfortable in trees as their panda, black, sun, and sloth bear relatives, although brown bear cubs are encouraged to climb for safety.īrown bears have a large hump of muscle on top of their shoulders, and grizzly bears have the most distinctive hump of all. It makes them look a little clumsy when they’re walking, but don’t be fooled-bears can move much more quickly than most people realize. Look carefully and you’ll notice that most bears walk pigeon-toed, with their feet turned inward. Get your bearings. All bears have short, thick limbs, a big, heavily built body, and a large head. There are several brown bear subspecies found in Europe, Asia, and the Middle East, but they are smaller than their North American relatives and their numbers are currently so low that their populations are at critical risk. Brown bears in interior North America are known as grizzly bears because their brown fur is tipped with white or tan the word "grizzly” means "sprinkled or streaked with gray." The Alaskan peninsular brown bear has a much smaller range: just the western tip of the Alaskan peninsula. This is from eating salmon rich in fat every summer. Today, scientists agree that there is only one species of brown bear with a lot of variations (or subspecies).īears found in parts of coastal Alaska are called Kodiak or Alaskan brown bears and tend to be the largest. It was once thought that there were 86 different kinds of grizzlies and brown bears in North America alone. Shades of brown. Brown bears are brown, right? Well, maybe. Especially with how Suda basically shares his life experiences and his journey in the video game industry throughout the game through Dr. Anyway, i was put off by how different the game was from the first 2 games, but i started to enjoy it. You gotta find a suitable partner to enjoy this game better. He didn't understand the story, but it was fun with him. Most people i know aren't into No More Heroes, and i got my brother to play with me. But i gotta say, this game is hard to enjoy with someone. I liked the gameplay and its hella fun co-op. I didn't understand it until playing through the game a few more times and watching GhenryPerez's video. The story didn't make any sense, and i was so confused. Travis Strikes Again was my final stop before No More Heroes III, and it felt the most underwhelming for me when i first played it. Regardless, it's still great and was a good addition to the series, in my opinion. It's also rumored Suda didn't like this game, which i think is likely. Many of the criticisms of this game are the weird shifts in tone in this game. To know more, watch TheGamingBritShow's video "No More Heroes 2's Killer Soundtrack." I don't have much to say, but the Shinobu part was cool but also felt off. The music was fantastic, but i still miss Masfumi Takeda. Although, unlike most people, i really didn't mind that the open world was gone. My only gripe is the mini games they were a bit grindy. I understand it's not everyones favorite. When i first played it, i loved it almost as much as the first. No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle was good, too. The main theme!!! The fun hack and slash motion control gameplay. Like he literally made the leimotif of No More Heroes. I loved all the bosses, and i honestly miss Masfumi Takeda as a composer for the No More Heroes series. I could go on and on, but tdlr i loved the game. It may be goofy, but it can still be taken seriously. The game is so goofy sometimes, but then it's serious as well. But the story and the nuances and subext are so well written. Just driving around listening to Gorgeous Blues. Sure, there were repetitive side jobs and assassination missions but it was fun, even collecting those balls around the map and t-shirts. Especially the first game, No More Heroes. I was only 15 at the time when i got into the series. Once the announcement was made, i was fast to pick up No More Heroes, No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle and Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes (even the DLC, which is needed to understand No More Heroes III, like what are you doing skipping this game & or not buying the DLC?!). I wish the Switch version or even ports looked as beautiful as the gameplay in that trailer. Finally getting to see gameplay, the game looked incredible. And then there was the trailer + announcement of ports of NMH 1 & 2. Until i saw The Game Awards trailer, which was hype asf and a perfect setup for No More Heroes III.įrom both trailers, i was extremely excited to see what the game actually looked or played like. I was still hyped for the game, and I was hoping he'd get into Smash. I had a Switch at the time and was hyped for this game i knew nothing about simply because a character named Travis Touchdown was wanted for Smash Bros. I believe it was the E3 trailer for No More Heroes III. I discovered No More Heroes sometime in 2019. To use this Illustrator tool, highlight all of your lines and select the paint bucket icon.
